FEBRUARY

Lots
of things happening in February! Munising
Icefest occurs during the first week. The
ice formations at the Eben
Ice Caves and Munising
Ice Curtains are sure to please. Free
fishing weekend, come participate in the
ice-fishing derby hosted
by the Munising Moose Lodge. UP 200 and
Midnight Run sled dog race, come cheer and see the dogs at the
finish
line. Frozen waterfalls are beautiful and
a
different experience in the quiet of winter. Get
your skis ready for some x-country skiing or
snowshoeing at the Valley
Spur
trails
or take your kids sledding at the Chatham Ski Hill.
Cross-country ski around Au Train Lake and
observe trumpeter swans. Of course,
there’s the Trenary
Outhouse Classic towards the end of the month.
Snowmobiling, snowmobiling,
snowmobiling…February has abundant snow! Four
Seasons Cabins are located in the center of
the beautiful Upper Peninsula. |
MARCH
|
The
warming temperatures and the longer days make early March a great time
for
snowmobiling, book early in the month for the best conditions. Cure “cabin fever” by enjoying the
outdoors. Snowshoeing is a great way to
enjoy the warmer days. While ice fishermen
are still on the lake, enjoy a canoe trip along the Au Train River with
no
crowds and abundant wildlife to view. There's
great cross-country skiing in the area and ice climbers can still be
found on
Munising Bay's Grand
Island cliffs. Call us before the snow melts.

APRIL/MAY

|
Those
that have a little adventure in them can try navigating Trail #1 with
their
four-wheeler, only those that enjoy mud and have a winch should apply. Four wheelers are allowed along the side of
most county roads in addition to hundreds of miles of marked trails. Flowers are blooming. Au Train Falls is only
a few miles to the south, a great place for columbine and periwinkles. Laughing Whitefish and Rock River Falls to
the west, and numerous
scenic waterfalls to the east. A great
time of year to experience how
beautiful the Upper Peninsula can be. Lots
of early season spring fishing on the "Big Lake" and the small inland
lakes, along with numerous secret brook trout streams. Now is the time
to take
a break from your hectic schedule and come relax on the covered porches
at Four Season Cabins and watch the sunrise, or enjoy the flowers
blooming
and the
trees budding. |

The
Fourth of July is our hottest booking. One
of the best little 4th of July fireworks is here in
Munising, up
close and personal. Our little neck of
the woods offers the hottest, fun-packed Fourth you'll ever experience.
You can
watch the fireworks over Munising Bay or travel to Marquette and enjoy
them at
Lower Harbor. All within a 40 mile radius! Better yet, rent a
pontoon
boat and
watch the show on Munising Bay. Afterward, come back to your cabin and
have
your own fireworks show around a bonfire on the beach. Make
it last all night! Later in the month, come
join the small festivities at the Flannel Jack
Festival. Start
a new tradition and call Four Seasons Cabins today. |

summer days require a canoe trip along the Au Train River.
Several canoe liveries are available or you
can borrow the canoe at Four Seasons Cabins. Miles

away from the crowds. Hike the Pictured
Rocks National Lakeshore or take one of our area's many narrated
tours.
You can
take a ferry to
Grand Island and tour it by foot, on a bike, or by bus. Birders will enjoy visiting the Au
Train
Songbird Trail. Check out the local
farmer’s market, eat a pastie, and try the smoked whitefish in
Munising. Good food and dining at the Brownstone Inn,
two miles west of Au Train. End the day
with
a campfire and some s’mores. Call
Four Seasons Cabins

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
|
Abundant
state and federal lands allow for recreational opportunities for
everybody. Make one of our cabins your
base camp for ruffed grouse and black bear hunting.
Both Au Train Lake and Forest Lake is known
for waterfowl hunting. Autumn is a great
time to take a hike on top of the Pictured Rocks, seasonally warm
temperatures
and no bugs! Be on top of 100 foot
cliffs overlooking Lake Superior while on the Chapel
Loop. Relax with us as Mother Nature
starts her
annual fall color explosion. Enjoy a walk or four-wheeler ride among
all the brightly colored leaves. Bring your cameras, you'll want
to share
this
breath-taking experience with your family and friends. Alger
County has some of the best and brightest fall colors around and Four
Seasons Cabins is right in the middle of it all.
